The neighborhood

This property is on a 50 acre working farm. It is a wonderful place to take quiet walks in the countryside and stargaze at night. Bikes are available for use. It is one mile from a public boat ramp at Folly Creek where you can launch kayaks. Kayaks can be delivered to any dock seasonally. There is a Little Free Library at the end of the drive that is stocked year round, and a vegetable stand that is bountiful in the summer.

Use the Little Red House as your base camp for exploring the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The Little Red House is 15 minutes from the town of Onancock which boasts several lovely restaurants, 15 minutes from Wachapreague and its public ramp and vintage summer carnival, 45 minutes north of quaint Cape Charles, and 40 minutes south of Chincoteague and its famous wild ponies and wide beaches.

Eastern Shore of Virginia

Located on the Delmarva Peninsula, this quaint cabin is 1.5 hours north of Virginia Beach and Norfolk area, and 3 hours south of Washington DC.

The Eastern Shore of Virginia is home to the famous Chincoteague Ponies on Assateague Island, which is 40 minutes north of here. It is an excellent day trip and people often comment how nice it is to escape the hubbub after an active day.

Our unique, accessible location makes a perfect weekend getaway for the Eastern Seaboard. We regularly welcome guests from Washington DC, New York City, Charlottesville, VA, the Carolinas, and beyond. Oftentimes, far-flung friends will meet here to reconnect.

things to do

Eastern Shore of Virginia

You  can coincide your stay with a NASA rocket launch on Wallops Island (you can see them from here). Take a twirl at a vintage local carnival, go kayaking/paddleboarding, book a boat ride, or ditch any plans and simply breathe in the quiet country air. Once you check in, you will find a handy insiders guide to all my personal favorite places to visit on the Shore.
